Colleges Recongnize Student Achievements
It deeply pleases me that a major academic institution such as Brown share my belief in a holistic approach toward education;
one that recognizes the value of the performing arts. Academically strong students with a background in performing arts tend
to have a host of traits that many universities consider invaluable. In the performing arts as well as in everything else in life,
one must work diligently, using both the mind and heart. In my many years of teaching, I have noticed that a student’s
success, in college admissions and later in the work force, is determined by the level of passion the student has for
their interests as well as their work effort. This is the first time I’ve received a personal letter from any university regarding
letters I have written for my students; perhaps the arts are enjoying a new Renaissance.

Congratulations Bhargavi Ganesh
Winner of Indian Classical Vocal Music, 2010
Bhargavi has been a student at the studio for the past 7 years. Besides playing the violin she is a student of classical South Indian vocal music. Bhargavi has been studying Carnatic vocal music for the last eight years with Mrs. Kalyani Ramani. Indian classical music has one of the most complex and complete musical systems ever developed. Indian classical music presents interesting challenges with its unique linguistic nuances and strong emphasis on diction. To bring out the flavor of the language requires intense training. Thanks to the excellent guidance from her teacher over the past 5 years, she has had success in Indian music competitions at local and national levels.
Indian classical music cannot be expressed in writing. The rules of Indian music and compositions themselves are taught from guru to student, in person. Competitions test the ability of the singer to improvise Indian classical music, giving it character and ornamentation in tone and pitch. Recently, Bhargavi competed at the Annual Cleveland Thyagaraja Aradhana Music Festival and won three First Prizes at the national event. In December 2009, she travelled to India to perform at 4 prestigious organizations in Chennai.
The discipline and the commitment to practice Bhargavi learnt at Mr. Bandimere’s studio has helped her succeed in Indian classical music as well.
Congratulations Matthew Hsu
Congratulations to Matt Hsu, winner of the concerto competition at West Windsor High School, South. In his Senior year, Matt will be the soloist for the February 2009 concert. He will be performing Hindemith’s Trauermusik for solo viola and string orchestra. Matt is also the principal violist of West Windsor High School, South.
Matthew Hsu has been with the Studio since the age of 10. He has been a student of Mr. Bandimere for 8 years now.
